Capitoline Museums
Tour highlights: the masterpieces of ancient sculpture in a stunning palace of the XVIth century
Duration: 2 hrs
After the Vatican Museums, this is the largest museum in Rome. Exhibiting mainly ancient art, such as the original equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius (the one in the Piazza del Campidoglio is a copy), the Capitoline Venus and the female Wolf, symbol of the city.
The collection is exhibited in two buildings with frescoes by great painters, such as Cavalier d’Arpino, and decorated with tapestries and precious objects.
In addition, an underground tunnel suddenly emerges on a balcony overlooking the Roman Forum. A truly breathtaking view!
